Punta Mona Hike
This is the slow, green way to Punta Mona. A guided 6–7 km hike leads through the Gandoca-Manzanillo Mixed Wildlife Refuge, south of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Limón, with stops at each beach along the way and at three panoramic ocean viewpoints. When you reach the end, a boat brings you back.

The trail moves between lush jungle and hidden beaches, through little-known corners of the Southern Caribbean. Your guide helps you watch for sloths, monkeys and toucans overhead. The refuge protects both forest and sea, and 377 bird species have been recorded here, so there is always something to listen for.
Every beach is a pause: time to catch your breath, take in the view and let the sounds of the forest settle around you. Fruit is included, a first-aid kit comes along, and entry to the Wildlife Refuge is covered.
Because the return is by boat, you walk the coast one way only and see it again from the water on the way back. Prefer the sea both ways? The Punta Mona boat tour is the shorter option.
